STATEMENT: Gillum Releases New Digital Video: “One Percent”

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Andrew Gillum for Governor Campaign released the following statement today from Geoff Burgan, Communications Director:
“Mayor Gillum’s led the Democratic field on progressive issues, from being the only Democrat to back “Medicare for All,” proposing a constitutional amendment to guarantee health care to all Floridians, and being the first to call for legalization and taxation of marijuana to pay for teacher pay raises. “One Percent” highlights the need for Democrats to run and win on a bold, progressive message — not Republican Lite.”
In the wake of Stacey Abrams’ win in Georgia, Gillum has received national endorsements from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), the Working Families Party (WFP), famed television producer Norman Lear, and nationally-syndicated radio host Charlamagne Tha God from the Breakfast Club.
Gillum is the most viably progressive candidate for Governor in Florida’s history. He has plans to make healthcare more affordable through Medicare for All, increase spending on education and workforce training through a corporate tax adjustment and marijuana legalization, and raise the minimum wage in Florida to $15 an hour. He has helped high school students get registered to vote in the aftermath of the Parkland tragedy, been sued by the gun lobby twice and won, and has the “best gun-control cred” according to POLITICO Florida’s Marc Caputo.
