STATEMENT: Gillum Accepts Orlando Debate

ORLANDO, Fla.The Andrew Gillum for Governor Campaign released the following statement from Geoff Burgan, Communications Director:

“We’re thrilled to accept the Orange County DEC’s debate offer in Orlando on June 26th. We’ve been calling for debates for months, and we hope our opponents join us in giving Florida Democrats the contest of ideas and records they deserve.”

The Gillum campaign plans to participate in at least the following six debates:

  • St. Pete, June 9th
  • Miramar, June 11th
  • Orlando, June 26th
  • Ft. Myers, July 18th
  • Miami, August 2nd
  • Jacksonville, August 9th

In the first Democratic debate, Mayor Gillum decisively won by highlighting his bold $1 billion plan to invest in public schools, students and teachers. He also had a compelling reason for running for Governor — unlike Mayor Levine, who said he “ran out of things to do.” The South Florida Sun Sentinel said that Gwen Graham and Levine “embarrassed themselves during a debate last week by not knowing how much Florida spends on public education.”
